Step Into Sock Knitting: A Beginner's Workshop

In this workshop:
Handknit socks are cozy, portable, and rewarding to make. This workshop introduces participants to the fundamentals of sock construction while guiding them through starting a cuff-down sock. Students will learn essential techniques including the anatomy of a sock, the relationship between the elements of the sock, turning a heel, and shaping the toe. By the end of class, participants will have a sock “mini-sample” and the knowledge to complete the project at home.

Skill Level: Adventurous Beginner / Intermediate
Necessary Skills: Basic knitting knowledge such as casting on, knit and purl stitches, basic increasing and decreasing.
Homework: None

Student Supplies: Students should bring 15-20 gms of fingering of DK weight yarn, preferred needles for working in the round in a small circumference (dpns, magic loop, or 2 circulars), stitch markers, and notions. It is helpful for students to use the Zoom app during class to see instructor’s demonstrations up close, on their own devices.

This class is 3 hours.
